- Description: Russ Walker's new picture book follows Bear round the harbour, the castle and the North Bay Railway. An easy half-term present for young visitors.

Russ Walker has written a children's picture book set in Scarborough, and it covers the places most families end up at sooner or later.

Bear's tour takes in the harbour, the castle, the Central Tramway and the North Bay Railway, plus a few other familiar stops. He gets round more of the town in one book than most visitors manage in a week.

It's written in rhyme and illustrated throughout. Each location comes with a "Bear Fact", a short bit of local history pitched at young readers, so there's a fair chance the kids will come home knowing more about the castle than you do.

Russ has been coming to Scarborough with his family for years. The idea is that children have something to take home from their trip, and pick up a bit about the town while they're at it.

If you've got grandchildren coming up for half-term, or young ones who've already been and keep asking when they're going back, it's an easy present that won't break the bank.
