The [Let's Talk Money survey](https://www.thisisthecoast.co.uk/news/local-news/public-views-sought-as-critical-council-services-face-financial-squeeze/?ref=scarboroughinsider.co.uk) closes on 26 November and feeds into next year's budget. Last time, 77 per cent of respondents backed a council tax rise to protect services. **Add ONE THING** that you believe should receive more funding in the comment section at the bottom Whitby's cliff lift makes a handy test case. It's been shut since 2022, and Mayor David Skaith says [no formal funding request](https://www.gazetteherald.co.uk/news/26596305.campaigners-get-update-whitby-cliff-lift-months-silence/?ref=scarboroughinsider.co.uk) has reached him from the council. A repair estimate, once put at Β£5.5 million, is due by the end of October. On a lighter note, Slash is [headlining the Open Air Theatre](http://www.maltonmercury.co.uk/whats-on/arts-and-entertainment/rock-icon-slash-announces-headline-show-at-scarborough-open-air-theatre-9254367?ref=scarboroughinsider.co.uk) on Thursday 1 July, joining Kaiser Chiefs and Simply Red. Tickets go on sale at 10 am on Friday 9 October, so set an alarm.
