Brunswick Reopening Could Wait Until 2029

Anyone hoping the Brunswick would soon be back in business will need to wait a while longer. Mid-2029 is the possible reopening date for the proposed cinema, shops and restaurants. Funding and planning approval remain unresolved, and tenants need to commit before the council releases its loan. There's still plenty to settle before the doors open.

Also awaiting a vote is a proposed rise in North Yorkshire councillors' allowances. The independent panel's recommendation is 2.6%, taking the basic payment to £18,431 a year for 2027/28. Full council decides on 18 November.

There's firmer news for half-term travellers: the planned Leeds Bradford walkouts are off while talks continue. The airport expects to run normally, though the pay dispute remains unresolved.

Back in Scarborough, the Flyer has a Halloween disco for the children on 29 October. From 5 pm to 6:30 pm, £5 covers food, a drink and a goodie bag, with a prize for best dressed. A manageable ninety minutes of small witches and vampires.
