North Yorkshire Council is about to debate what to do about the gulls - specifically, whether 119,000 worth of gull-proof bags and public education will make any difference. The household food waste collections that might actually help aren't due until 2043, so there's time to think about it.
Scarborough Town Council, meanwhile, has written to the Mayor objecting to a proposed overnight visitor levy, on the basis that it would push visitors towards places that don't charge extra. The levy hasn't arrived yet, but the objection is in writing.
On a rather larger scale, Scarborough is set to become a Mayoral Development Zone - town centre investment, new homes, and tourism development all in the mix. The official prospectus describes Scarborough as one of the region's most deprived communities, which at least has the virtue of being honest.
If none of that appeals, Langley Castle in Northumberland has been quietly taking guests since 1350.

🥁 Norwegians Take Westborough. Seventy musicians from Norwegian marching bands filled the town centre with percussion drills and street concerts as part of an annual visit running since 1968. Club England marks its 60th anniversary in 2028.
