The Photographs Don't Capture the Smell

Hey Scarborough! Here's what's happening this week ๐
North Yorkshire Council voted 9-5 this week to press ahead with its move to Resolution House in Eastfield, ending what appears to have been a long and fragrant chapter in Scarborough Town Hall's history. Newly released photographs show damp walls and conditions bad enough to send staff home to work. The council noted, with some restraint, that the photographs don't fully capture the smell.
Following a permanent overnight parking ban on motorhomes in parts of town, two park and ride sites on Seamer Road and Filey Road are now being considered as alternatives. The sites are often half-empty even at peak season, so there's room - the question is whether the infrastructure is there to make it work.
Over in Gristhorpe, a pregnant woman four weeks from her due date is now in a Scarborough Travelodge after lightning tore a 10-foot hole through her house and, for good measure, exploded the TV. There's not a great deal to add to that.
If the week has left you wanting somewhere quiet to sit and recover, Hazlewood Castle near York is running overnight spa packages in its medieval thermal suite. Worth a look before Easter fills everything up.
All of that and more is below.
